"The Marikina Valley", is a painting made by Fabian De la Rosa. The scenic painting reminds me of the rural rice fields back at my home province. The rice stalks sway as the wind blows, gives a pleasant sight, like the waves in the ocean.

Damián Domingo y Gabor (February 12, 1796 – July 27, 1834) was the father of Philippine painting.

Amorsolo's major works, such as Maiden in a Stream (1921), The Conversion of the Filipinos (1931), The Bombing of Intendencia (1942), The Rape of Manila (1942), Defense of a Filipina Woman's Honor (1945), and Sunday Morning Going to Town (1958), relate to distinct events in Philippine history.

Amorsolo is best known for his illuminated landscapes, which often portrayed traditional Filipino customs, culture, fiestas and occupations. His pastoral works presented "an imagined sense of nationhood in counterpoint to American colonial rule" and were important to the formation of Filipino national identity.
